Hi! I’m Kristy, a mom to two sweet boys and a Border Collie and lover of all things house.
I am a native Chicagoan – grew up in the burbs and now live in West Bucktown with my husband, two sons, and pup.
I started this blog to document the fun (and stress) of building our house in the West Bucktown a few years ago and now continue share tips and tours of our home and other projects I am working on.
I have been into design as long as I can remember – I always had more fun designing Barbie’s dream house rather than playing with it – and am excited to keep the passion alive by helping friends and clients. I love floor plans, space planning, selecting finishes, and construction sites.
And apologies in advance – I apparently think I am a lot funnier than I actually am (thanks, Matt!).

I see in one of your posts, you mixed Provincial color Wood Stain with Pickled Oak Woods stain to get that awesome Brown-gray color for wood. Did you use the Pickled oak first or Provincial. Also, do you remember the ratio of each. The color is gorgeous!

It was a 50/50 mix of Provincial and Pickled Oak – they were mixed together before applying to the floors. Please let me know if you have any other questions! Thanks!!
